Streets of Edinburgh - Edinburgh Street Photos When most of us think of Edinburgh, we think of a beautiful historic city divided into the ancient Old Town and the Georgian New Town. We might think of Edinburgh Castle, the Scott Monument, Princes Street, the costly Scottish Parliament Building, Holyrood Palace, Arthur's Seat, the Botanic Gardens and Hibs and Hearts, but Edinburgh, like all cities, is made up of thousands of streets in dozens of districts, some are beautiful and others are definitely not. To date, I have photographed 992 of these streets, the good and the bad, and displayed the pictures in black and white on this site. As there are around 5000 streets in Edinburgh, the project should keep me busy for a few years. It is not my intention to pass comment on the content of any of the pictures in these pages, regardless of how beautiful or otherwise they appear or how historically important or unimportant they may be. They are just pictures of how the streets appeared at the moment I turned up with my camera. The photographs are stored in alphabetical order of the street name, just click on one of the links on the left or type the name of the street you are looking for into the search engine below. Some colour photos can be seen by clicking the More Edinburgh link. These are more general pictures taken in and around and above Edinburgh.
