New Town

This photo was taken looking north from above the Castle. Charlotte Square is bottom left under a smudge on the helicopter window, the strip of green in the foreground is Princes Street Gardens and the green in the centre is Queen Street Gardens. The circle above Queen Street Gardens is Royal Circus and above that to the left is the Royal Botanic Garden. What looks like columns in front of the Botanic Garden are the Stockbridge Colonies. Top right is Leith Docks.

Donaldson's School for the Deaf is in the foreground. To the right of that above Grosvenor and Landsdowne Crescents you can just make out St. Mary's Cathedral in Palmerston Place. Again Leith Docks are at the top of the photograph with Inchkeith Island above them.
